Fiddly work

Yesterday I started cutting the pieces for the Feathered Star block in JT2, there are quite a lot of little triangles (over 60 of both the background and red fabric).  To make it a bit easier I decided that I would use the Feathered Star template set that I won in a giveaway from Meredithe  ages ago, so far so good, the instructions are easy to understand and everything is coming together nicely.

I finished off two more blocks over the weekend and put all the blocks up on the design wall to see how it was looking.  The Feathered Star block will fit in the gap on the LHS, I am still working on the applique block which will go in that bottom corner on the RHS, the small gap next to the basket needs an 8 pointed star to be finished (I'm on my second attempt for that one, the seams aren't matching up, third time lucky on that one maybe) and the remaining gap is for the Grandma's Favourite Compass block which I'm not even going to think about yet.

  1. You are doing well Pip. good luck with your third attempt with the 8 point star. It won't be long and you will have another finish under your belt

  2. I'm really liking this quilt of yours. I think the "gather together disparate blocks" is in the air, in the zeitgeist, lately, and I plan to totally succumb and do one myself. Your points are so precise!

  3. Its looking really good, Pip! Glad the template is helping you out.

  4. Far too many little pieces in that for me to even contemplate. It is looking good.
