Dixie Tea

was the block for week 47 of the Civil War Quilts BOW.  Rather than cut into a new piece of fabric I went through all my civil war reproduction scraps and found plenty of pieces to use in this block.  This weeks block was to remind us of Dixie (a nickname for the South) and the various substitutes that were used for tea and coffee in that time.

  1. Love it! A truly scrappy block... making do with what you have, just like the folks who made sassafras tea!

  2. The range of print sizes make this such an interesting block. Love the combinations . Imagine...NO coffee! How would we ever sew into the wee hours without it?

  3. Lovely block. Far too many pieces in those blocks for me.
