This and that

Most of my weekend has been spent working on putting this quilt top together and piecing the back together for it as well.  It is now at the quilting stage some of which I did today and will finish off tomorrow.

I even had time for a bit of blog browsing as well,  Robyn alerted me to this giveaway which of course I entered, can’t pass up the chance for some fabric plus I quite like Lila Tueller Designs having made a couple of quilts using her fabric before.

Ever since the warmer weather came around last year I’ve been making this quick ice-cream.  It isn’t real ice-cream but as my cholesterol is a bit high it makes a very good substitute:

  • Freeze chopped fruit (bananas or mango for example)
  • Put about 1- 1 1/2 cups of the frozen fruit in a food processor
  • Pulse fruit till it is very finely chopped
  • Add 1/2 cup of yoghurt
  • Pulse until you have a creamy mix
  • Enjoy

Our current favourite fruit is banana and mango, with banana and raspberry a close second.  You can actually make this using cream instead of the yoghurt but then it isn’t low cholesterol.  If you have quite a sweet tooth you may like to add a bit of icing sugar for extra sweetness, and if you like it a bit firmer just pop it in the freezer for about an hour to firm up.

  1. That non-ice cream looks really good, and love the quilt! Guess your new sewing machine has settled in quite well. Enjoy your warm weather and think of me a bit ~ it will be -15 here tonight!

  2. Happy to see you are making such good progress on your quilt!

Thank you for sharing your Non-icecream recipe. My hubby has cholesteral issues too and this will be a wonderful substitute for him.

  3. That 'non icecream' sounds yummy.Something different for the high Cholesterols. It will still be hot enough tomorrow to give it a test run.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, I'll try and reply in a timely manner, usually by email, if you are a no-reply commenter then I will reply directly to your comment which means you will have to come back to see it :)
